Traffic Regulator

Job Description


The Traffic Regulator is responsible for safely channeling motor vehicles through live construction zones.

REPORTS TO:
Traffic Regulator Foreman

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and maintain a safety barrier separating the general public from road maintenance, heavy equipment, new pavement and Ajax employees.
  • Communicate with motoring public about closure, if necessary.
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SKILLS:

  • Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
  • Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness
  • Able to work in an labor-intensive environment 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 years of construction labor experience, or in a related field, is a plus
  • Experience in roadbuilding laboring is preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Traffic Regulator functions.
