Job Description
The Concrete Laborer is responsible for working with concrete materials, which includes, but not limited to, raking and shoveling concrete material.
REPORTS TO:
Concrete Foreman
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to work in busy/changing environment on construction sites (close proximity to equipment, pedestrian traffic, adjust to changing job site access
- Work with various hand tools
- Stationing and setting joints
- Maintain consistent quality, texture in handwork
- Assure all joints are properly matched
- Cuts, removes and straightedges all butt joints
- Assure overall job drainage
- Assist in handwork, prep work and cleanup as directed by the foreman
- Performs all functions as directed by foreman or lead operator in conjunction with preparation, layout, cleaning, paving, compaction, and finishing the operation
- Operate small engine machines to assist in compaction of concrete material
- Follow all safety rules and regulations
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
- Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
- Exhibit honesty and trustworthiness
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma
- Valid Driver’s License
- 2-3 years of concrete experience, or in a related field
- Experience in construction is preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Concrete Laborer functions.
