Highway & Airport Construction Surveyor

Job Description

The Highway & Airport Construction Surveyor is responsible for the setup, layout, and day to day survey needs of the company in the field setting. This is a vital position in our everyday stringless paving operations in both concrete and asphalt divisions.

REPORTS TO:
Survey Manager

We are looking for an individual who can work quickly in a fast-paced environment, work on and with a team, exhibit honesty and trustworthiness, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. This individual must possess strong mathematic skills, a valid driver's license, and a High School Diploma or GED.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Show up on time ready to work every day
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Setup and maintain UTS (Universal Total Station) for stringless paving operations
  • Basic layout and grade control within the construction of the projects
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Be able to communicate with all positions of the workforce
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work long days in a construction environment
  • Have basic problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Possess a general understanding of modern-day technology
  • Lift and carry equipment on uneven terrain when necessary
  • Be able to work and complete tasks assigned without direct supervision

Education / Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in the roadbuilding industry, or in a related field, is a plus

Work Environment/Physical Abilities:

The physical abilities of this position require the employee to be able to frequently sit, stand, climb, low level work, reaching, bending, and trunk movements. Also may require carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking. Lifting requirements may include up to 50 pounds. Traveling is an essential requirement of this position to ensure implementation of Assistant Survey Manager functions.
