Lanham, Md. -The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced today that Ajax Paving Industries of Nokomis, Fla., won a 2016 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. The company received its award today at a ceremony during the association’s 62nd Annual Meeting in Orlando.
“The goal of every paving contractor is to build a high-quality road -a road that meets and exceeds stringent performance requirements,” said 2016 NAPA Chairman Kevin Kelly. “Earning a Quality in Construction Award shows a strong commitment to quality from a contractor who measures their project against industry best practices. In earning this Quality in Construction Award, Ajax Paving Industries has constructed a safe, quiet, smooth asphalt pavement.”
Ajax Paving Industries won the award for the extension and reconstruction of Taxiway A at Punta Gorda Airport. The company had to keep the existing taxiways and runways open to air traffic at all times, performing tie-in construction at night when the airport operations were shut down. Ajax Paving Industries produced a high-quality taxiway that exceeded the customer’s requirements for pavement placement, density, and lab results and the smooth landing will satisfy pilots for years to come.
