Punta Gorda Airport Taxiway A

Project Highlights:

  • 4900 tons P-401 asphalt
  • Continuous air traffic at airport
  • Quality in Construction Award, National Asphalt Pavement Association
  • Special Project Award, Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida

What We Did

This project for the Charlotte County Airport Authority required the removal and replacement of Taxiway A. During the course of this six-month project, Ajax Paving laid a new, longer taxiway that exceeded requirements for pavement placement, density, and lab testing. Equally important, all tie-in construction was performed at night to ensure continued air service on the facility’s other runways.

The Punta Gorda Airport project won a Quality in Construction Award from the National Asphalt Pavement Association and the Special Project Award from the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida.
