Sr. Engineer Surveyor – North Venice Area

Job Description


The Engineering Surveyor uses global positioning systems (GPS) to layout road, airport and various construction projects and verify accuracy of survey data. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
Surveyor directly reports to, and is accountable to the Vice President of Operations. 

REQUIREMENTS:

A. EDUCATION
Minimum qualifications are graduation from an accredited university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying or Civil Engineering or with a minimum of four years of field experience working under a licensed PLS. 

B. LICENSING/REGISTRATIONS
Preferred:

  • Florida PLS or PE

C. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Have the ability to use global positioning systems (GPS) to layout construction projects. Prepare “As Built” drawings from field data. Be proficient in math and earth science.

D. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Layout construction projects with GPS equipment from CAD drawings/maps.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Set up machine control systems for paving and grading equipment.
  • Lead our AMG Technology.
  • Well versed in 3-D modeling and VR Technologies.
  • Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
  • Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
  • Coordinate findings with the work of engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and others concerned with projects.
  • Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
  • Establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments.
  • Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).
  • Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
  • Develop criteria for the design and modification of survey instruments.
  • Train assistants and helpers, and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys.

E. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL

  • Insure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax Safety and Environmental rules and regulations.

F. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Field and office environment.
  • Ability to work days, nights and weekends as required.

G. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The essential functions of this position includes sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
