Our cover story profiles a job by Ajax Paving Industries, Inc., of Florida, on the portion of I-275 located south of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, which crosses Tampa Bay. Florida paving operations began in 1981 and grew from a single plant to a five-plant operation spanning Florida’s West Coast from south of Fort Myers to Odessa, north of Tampa.
In “Progressive Thinking,” we highlight the rehabilitation of an existing concrete roadway by the crack and seat method. This process of pavement rehabilitation is not new but has proven successful on many public and private jobs.
